Write To Yourself – Trevor Scharpenberg

Trevor Scharpenberg – @ScharpFitness

I wrote this a few months back and recently stumbled upon it again. I highly recommend trying this out.

Something that gives me daily motivation is a thought that is a little hard to explain. Basically, I think about what my 50 year old self would be telling me right now. Would I be making decisions that will fill myself with regret or decisions that will help me prosper and be living my dream at age 50?

There’s also a song that I love called “Dear younger me” by MercyMe that I highly recommend checking out.

As you’re reading this remember that I am speaking as I am from the future to the present me.

Dear Younger me,

I know that times can get difficult and motivation can get low but don’t let that stop you from taking action in your life. It might feel like the world is ending some days, but just be thankful that God is with you at all times. You will never face anything that you cannot handle. When you feel like quitting, remember why you are doing it.

Do it for your future family because they deserve everything and there is only one way that you will be able to do that, which is working harder now so you can enjoy life later. Try not to make decisions that you would not want your future kids to make, if you wouldn’t want them to do it, why is it okay for you to?

Enjoy your younger years while you can because it’ll go by faster than you think. You have experienced how quickly things can come and go and how easy it is to have regrets with things you wish you did/didn’t do. Don’t let your whole life become this situation. Once things happen, they happen. There is no way to go back and change things in the past.

When you do make mistakes, don’t mourn over it because that is only taking time away from the present. Just make the best of all situations, don’t let little things bug you. Trust in God and give him your whole heart. Just because it’s “cool” doesn’t make it right. You will encounter situations in which you will be prosecuted, but that is to be expected.

You will be persecuted for pursuing your goals and for pursuing God but remember that those that are willing to endure the hate will end up with the love.

Keep Grinding,

Signed: Yourself
