Questions I often hear:
“I want to be stronger, but I don’t want to get fat! Can I get stronger and not have to bulk?”
“I want to get leaner, but I don’t want to lose any strength. Can I get stronger and leaner at the same time?”
“I want to put on mass, but don’t want to look fluffy. Is there a kind of programming should I be doing?”
The answer to all of these questions is, YES!
The style of training to become BIGGER, STRONGER and, of course, LEANER, all in the same programming has always been very attractive to me.
When I first began studying programming, around the age of 13, I was very intrigued by the different styles and methods; how much they varied from program to program, why exercises were paired together the way they were and how the exercises worked in conjunction to produce results. My studying began with The Arnold Encyclopedia which I really enjoyed. From there I began to dig more into powerlifting methods, which led me to studying the conjugate method, then into 5/3/1, and the list continues to go on and on. Anytime I come upon new programming I submerge myself into it asking as many why’s as I can. WHY WHY WHY? I want to know EVERYTHING when it comes to lifting weights. I’ve made this a lifestyle over the past decade. All of my free time is typically consumed with breaking down leverages and positioning on lifts, identifying weaknesses and developing a plan of action to make the athlete/ lifter better! This obsession happened very early in my life, around the same time I began to understand the conjugate method. Very quickly I was able to identify how biased each program (or those individuals who had adopted the programming) were. Meaning everyone who ran 1 program believed that program was THE BEST EVER and nothing else was nearly as good! Even at that time I was able to identify that every method I learned, I was able to take something valuable away from and apply it in a manner that would be beneficial to myself and those I trained with.
Fast forward a decade and a half where I have now taken those years of study and understanding to adapt my own methods. I base this off the dozens and dozens of philosophies that I have studied and through trials I have conducted myself. Taking THE BEST OF THE BEST that I’ve learned from each and morphing each application into practical effectiveness for anyone who runs my programming. Each E-book has a very unique approach from the positioning and leverage cues in the video library, to the practicality, yet extremely wide variety, of movements that always keep your training sessions feeling fresh. My programming is nothing like anything you’ve ever ran before.
I created my philosophies based off of a practical approach, by achieving the desired look I always strived to have: big, strong and lean. So it started by building a BIGGER physique by packing on MUSCLE, while getting stronger in the process! This was simple. Strength and size can often be paired together. But, when adding in being LEANER, that changes the game for everything. Our desired goal is to not only become BIGGER and STRONGER throughout the 8 week program, but also accomplish a LEANER look in doing so! This is what I didn’t get from the vast majority of programming that I was running/studying in years prior. In the programming I would run and study, I would find myself achieving a BIGGER or STRONGER look but my physique looked “soft” and slightly “out of shape.” In the programming I was running when I was shooting for the end goal of being LEAN, I ended up LEAN but not very strong. I also lacked density and mass. It was around that time, 6-7 years ago, when I began applying my own studies on achieving the desired look I had been shooting for; BIGGER.STRONGER.LEANER.
Over the years I have honed in and and sharpened the skills of the craft. When I first began writing this style of programming my body weight was approximately 150lbs. Since then I have gained nearly 50lbs of muscle while maintaining a six pack nearly all year round. My average body weight now floats around 195lbs. I continue to grow BIGGER in density and mass in the muscles. I continue to reach new heights of strength from squatting 705 pounds at 181lbs of body weight (my Powerlifting Competition weight) to benching 465 pounds and deadlifting 705 pounds for 4 reps. I’ve benched 225 for 50 reps, squatted 600 for 8 reps and deadlifted 600 for 16 reps, all while keeping a six pack and maintaining a lean physique. I’ve been an Elite Powerlifter for nearly 5 years in that time, accomplishing Jr. world records and open IPA world records in the sport of powerlifting. Proving by actions that my methods and philosophies WORK and WORK EFFECTIVELY!
Since moving to Indianapolis in March of 2015 I have dedicated 100% of my life to training athletes/lifters and competing. I’ve worked with over 1,000 athletes and lifters alike in over a dozen countries around the world. My methods and philosophies are used by high school coaches around the country in their weight rooms, general health seekers at your every day gyms, collegiate athletes who are looking to take their game to the top and Elite Powerlifters!
