Take that vacation of a lifetime, get the body you’ve been wishing for, go back to school or pursue the career you’ve always wanted. How long have you been planning on making a change and doing what you’ve always dreamed about? We all have dreams and goals that we’ve put on the backburner. It’s time to wake up and start pursuing them.
Each day that we are given here on this earth is a gift, we’re not guaranteed anything. If you’re not waking up each day and doing what you love, or at the very least chasing that dream, you’re doing yourself an injustice. Every day is an opportunity to learn, grow and work towards our dreams. Wake up each day with a fire burning inside you. Don’t lay your head down at night without at least doing one thing that day that will move you closer to your goals.
We all get the same 24 hours, it’s what you choose to do with it that matters. Zach recently dropped a great article that stated the average American between the ages of 34-49 are spending upwards of 33 hours per week watching TV. That’s crazy! We spend around 19% of our time wasting it on TV and then complain that we don’t have enough time to workout or follow our passion. Carve out that hour for your workout, wake up early and spend 30 minutes reading, stay up a few minutes late doing some research. You don’t have to be a hermit or take away from your family time to do it. I usually spend around one hour each night writing, reading or researching after my wife and dog have passed out on the couch. I use this as part of my productive time, otherwise I would be spending that time watching a useless show. Find a time that works best for you.
If I had slept on my dreams I never would have graduated college. It took me seven years to get my Bachelors degree. I had struggles financially and many sleepless nights studying, but never stop pursuing my dream. In May of 2016 I graduated Cum Laude with my Exercise Science degree. I was the first in my family to graduate from college. The road was tough, people doubted me, but just the smile on my mom’s face at graduation made it all worth it.
The greatest basketball player of all time, Michael Jordan, has a famous quote saying “I’ve missed more than 9,000 shots in my career. I’ve lost almost 300 games. 26 times, I’ve been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I’ve failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed.” We only live once, don’t spend your life looking back and thinking what if. It’s ok to fail, failure is an opportunity to learn and grow. Take that chance and shoot your shot!
