Why Proper Programming Is Important – Zach Kotecki

My program works. My program is the best. My program is the only way to get stronger.
How many times have you heard this? Chances are you’ve heard it just about every time you’ve researched a program. Not only are these people lying to you about their programing being the only way to get you stronger or leaner, the people themselves don’t know a lick about proper programming. They will have you doing movements such as good mornings for reps, or have you do a crap ton of cable work, or worse yet, develop a program that doesn’t include the deadlift! I can’t tell you how many times early in my training days I have gone to bodybuilding.com and searched for a program to start solely based off appearance. The advocate for the program would obviously look the part and the video for the programming would sell me instantly. Boom! I hop on the program, 4, 6, maybe 8 weeks later and nothing has changed. Why? The programming is shit! Sorry but it just is. So I went searching for someone who not only looks the part but LIVES the part. That is when I found Zach Homol through social media. I started following him, digging into all his content through Youtube and videos on Instagram. I picked up on a few things right away while others I was totally lost on. Why do you do this movement? Why do accommodating resistance training? Why does this exercise come after this movement? The questions to this day are endless. I’m always asking more and digging into further research to better understand how to strengthen the body and work on weak areas to make the body stronger. In the sport of powerlifting you would be trying to strengthen areas to make your Big 3 lifts increase; Bench, Squat and Deadlift. Since arriving to Iron Valley Barbell in April my total for all lifts combined has increased 85 pounds! Most notably my Sumo Deadlift going from 315×3 to 315×15 and my bench press 1RM went from a sloppy 260 to a solid 290 and looking very confident to take 315 for a ride in 5 weeks once Power Gainz is through.
Power Gainz is the program I am on now and through 4 weeks I have set 5 PR’s either be 1RM or rep PR’s. The difference in this type of programming, and any programming done by Zach Homol, is that we train weaknesses, we train dynamically and, most importantly, we train the movements we don’t like to do but are smart enough to know they will make us stronger specimens. Like I said before, most people who write programs will tell you that their program is the only way to get stronger. This is not the case with Zach. He openly tells you there are multiple methods to get strong from, which is exactly why he’s picked and pulled different methods of training and compiled them into a style of his own. Just about everyone who runs his programming hit a PR, if not multiple, they all not only get stronger but learn how to lift safer as well. The testimonies speak for themselves, If you want to find a program that pushes you to the fullest, a program that will literally force you to get stronger, give any one of his programs a try! There are dozens of programs both to get strong or to shred weight for both men and women on Indiefitness.net!
